The prime role of the Head of the Academic Department (Director) is to provide strong academic leadership. The Director is required to lead, manage and develop the institute to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities. Director is supported by the Director-General, Director Administration, HODs, Faculty, and staff members. There is well-defined responsibility for all the faculty members and the in-charge of various committees.
Director is required to exercise leadership, demonstrate vision and mission, and empower others to deliver the agreed institute strategy within the Faculty. Director reports only to the top management (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Others) of our Institute and assists them in the following functions of the institution Regulation/monitoring, Visionary, Development and leadership.
- The most important function of the director is to see that excellent faculty are recruited, supported and retained in the institute.
- Director also takes responsibility for the professional development of individual faculty members in carrying out their teaching and creative work.
- Director solves the grievances of students, faculty and staff members and passes them the policies of management from time to time.
- Director makes effective use of all staffing resources and also manages the tasks which need to collaborate with other departments.
- He ensures that all the activities are carried out with the highest possible standards and the process of continuous improvement in the teaching-learning process is followed. For this purpose, an internal quality assurance cell is functional in our institute.
- A faculty engage classes regularly and punctually and impart such lessons and instruction, do such internal assessment/examination evaluation as the Director shall allot to them from time to time and will not ordinarily remain absent from work without prior permission or grant of leave.
- Develops methodology to educate students about the topic (problem-solving, small group discussions, etc.) and then implementing the same in the classroom,
- Development of course handout material.
- Prepares and executes Lesson Plan.
- Completing syllabus within the stipulated time.
- Prepares course outcomes of particular subject they are handling and maps the course outcomes with program outcomes.
- Prepares course file for the semester and do periodic evaluation of class tests, tutorials, assignments.
- Faculty helps in enforcing discipline among students.
- Faculty also performs the other co-curricular & extracurricular activities time to time.
Subject teachers (those who are teaching the class) are appointed as class coordinator in our institute. The class coordinator performs the following specific tasks-Discusses all important issues given below and maintains good communication with the students.
- Attendance
- Number of credits required to get promoted
- Importance of labs and how they may lose marks if they are absent for lab/non-submission of records
- Importance of assignments and how students lose marks for non/incomplete submission of assignments
- Makes students fully aware of their responsibility to meet performance standards (Putting in 75% attendance and passing of subjects with good marks) and that failure to do so may result in detention.
- Nominate two class representatives (One Boy and Girl) who have a bright scholastic record
- Acts as a mentor, counsellor, and role model in resolving student-related difficulties.
- They give updates to students about university circulars and notices
- They take feedback from students regarding course completion, problems faced in studies
- Collects information regarding weaker students from the subject teachers and arranges remedial classes
- Calls the parents of the student whose attendance is < 75% and arranges to ensure parents meet the director particularly in the case where the student’s attendance is < 65%.
